Florette

Cold Porcelain Cross-Shaped Florette

In the first instance, this detailed, step-by-step tutorial shows you how to make a decorative, cross-shaped florette embellishment, but also aims to demonstrate some of the properties of cold porcelain, so that anybody new to the medium can understand that it handles quite differently from traditional clay and other more firm, air dried clays such as Daz and Fimo.

This ornamental moulding can be attached to furniture, architraves, fire surrounds and picture frames to create a 3D carved effect to the painted surface. Although this is an obvious use, there is no reason why it couldn’t be attached to a keyring or used to embellish a gift-wrapped parcel. A creative person will probably come up with all sorts of other ideas!
